Suiting both Beginners & Advanced Mandolin Player

The Kentucky FM-1050 mandolin is a classic choice for both the enthusiast and professional. It features impeccable styling, excellent wood selection and meticulous attention to detail. It evokes the 1920s mandolins, which are still treasured today. It has a slowly fading tobacco sunburst finish and a beautifully rendered scroll. The headstock is also very elegant.

However, you will notice differences between the highly-respected 90-year-old mandolins as well as the Kentucky FM-1050. The new KM-1050 will be a great addition to the arsenal of mandolin players, particularly those who are skilled in playing other fretted instruments that have wider spacing. Although the new master-level mandolin looks similar to the KM-1000 at first glance, you’ll soon notice a few more user-friendly features that were developed by Saga and Kentucky mandolins.

Features of Kentucky

The ebony fingerboard features a compound radius, a larger nut and saddle to provide more comfortable string spacing, frets that have a higher and wider reach than vintage instruments, and a well-scooped fingerboard extension with inlaid silver-silver fret marker for a traditional look. This all adds up to a mandolin that has unmatched playability. The KM-1050’s body is similar to other Master Model Kentucky Mandolins. It has a hand-carved, graduated Adirondack spruce top and a back and sides made of select Northern maple. This ensures the best tone. It will be difficult to find a F-model mandolin that is better than the KM-1050, America’s favorite.
